DateVet ("DateVet," "we," "our," or "us") is operated by Dong Law Group, LLC. This Privacy Policy explains what information the DateVet iOS and Android app collects, how we use it, and the choices you have.
If you have questions, email privacy@donglawgroup.com.
DateVet helps you evaluate photos — typically someone else's dating-app profile picture — for signs that the photo is fake, AI-generated, or stolen from elsewhere on the web. You submit a photo, DateVet runs it through four AI and image-analysis services, and the app returns a verdict (for example, "likely AI-generated" or "matches a public figure's photo").
DateVet does not perform facial recognition or create biometric face templates. We do not identify real individuals by face.
Account information. When you create an account we collect your email address and, depending on the sign-in method you choose, a Firebase user ID associated with Sign in with Apple, Sign in with Google, or email/password. Anonymous ("guest") sessions receive a randomly generated Firebase user ID with no personal information attached.
Photos you submit for analysis. When you submit a photo to be vetted, the image bytes are uploaded to Firebase Cloud Storage over HTTPS. The image is deleted from Firebase Cloud Storage as soon as the analysis completes — typically within seconds — whether the scan succeeded or failed (see "Data Retention" below).
Scan results. The textual metadata produced by each scan — for example, "reverse-image matches found on 4 websites," detected AI-generation probability, or a list of visually similar image URLs — is stored in your private Firestore document so you can view your scan history. No photo bytes are stored with the scan results.
Purchase information. In-app purchases and subscriptions are handled by Apple (App Store) and Google (Play Store). We receive a receipt or entitlement confirmation via RevenueCat so we can credit your account. We do not receive or store credit-card numbers.
Diagnostic logs. Our Firebase Cloud Functions log request metadata (timestamps, error codes, abuse signals) for security and reliability. Logs do not include the contents of your photos.
When you submit a photo, DateVet sends it over HTTPS to the following third-party services for analysis. Each provider processes the image transiently to return a result and does not use your image to train their models or identify you as an individual:
None of these services are used for facial recognition or biometric identification. DateVet does not collect, store, or transmit biometric identifiers as defined under BIPA, Texas CUBI, or similar state biometric privacy laws.
DateVet does not operate in the following jurisdictions and users located there are blocked by both IP-based geolocation (enforced server-side) and, where device permission is granted, coarse device location (enforced in the app):
We use the information above solely to:
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your photos to train machine-learning models of any kind.
In addition to the scan providers listed in Section 3, we use the following service providers:
Each is contractually obligated to process your information only on our behalf. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to advertisers or data brokers.
Uploaded photos. Deleted from Firebase Cloud Storage as soon as the scan completes — typically within seconds of upload. Deletion runs in a finally block inside the scan Cloud Function, so it executes on both successful and failed analyses. No copy of the image persists in Storage once the scan request finishes.
Scan results (text metadata). Retained in your private Firestore document for as long as your DateVet account exists, so you can revisit your scan history. Deleted when you delete your account.
Account information. Retained while your account is active. Deleted within 30 days of account deletion, except where we are required to retain limited records for fraud, tax, or legal-compliance reasons.
Diagnostic logs. Retained for up to 90 days.

Residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Virginia, the EU/UK, and other jurisdictions with comprehensive privacy laws have additional rights, including the right to know, correct, delete, port, or opt out of certain processing. Email privacy@donglawgroup.com to exercise any of these rights. We will verify your identity before acting on the request.
DateVet is rated 17+ in the App Store and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13 (or the applicable minimum age in your jurisdiction). If we learn we have collected such information, we will delete it.
DateVet uses Firebase App Check (App Attest on iOS, Play Integrity on Android) to block unauthorized clients, enforces server-side authentication on every sensitive API call, encrypts data in transit via TLS, and restricts Firestore and Storage access to the authenticated owner of each record. No system is perfectly secure — you use DateVet at your own risk.
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced in the app. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.
